£11 million boost for hauliers as speed limit raised

Hauliers across England and Wales could see a £11 million a year boost as the government raises the speed limit for lorries on single carriageway roads to 50 mph. Transport Minister Claire Perry has announced the move as part of a package of measures to cut congestion, reduce dangerous overtaking and help get the country moving.

Introduction of the HGV road user levy

A levy for heavy goods vehicles at or above 12 tonnes has been introduced on UK roads. The introduction of such a measure in the UK has been called for over many years by our domestic haulage industry. The levy must be paid by foreign-registered and UK-registered HGVs alike, and creates a fairer system by removing some of the inequality UK hauliers feel when paying to use many roads abroad.

DSA warns on Driver CPC training deadlines

​DSA and Traffic Commissioners 11 March 2013

You face being fined up to £1,000 and even losing your livelihood if you don’t finish your training in time, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has warned. The Office of the Traffic Commissioner has also reminded operators to be aware of their drivers’ training hours and deadlines to avoid penalties.
